This summer, SNAP payments will be increased for families who have children who are eligible for the program.
Both the summer and the winter will be covered by this program.
Who is qualified to apply?
Food stamps in the amount of $30 will be provided on a monthly basis to children who qualify in Baltimore County. The advantages will be bestowed to recipients in the months of June, July, and August.
This is a portion of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for children in the state of Maryland during the summer.
Children who are eligible will also receive $10 in the month of December when they begin their winter break. At first, it was anticipated that no more than 10,000 children living in the area would be eligible.
Governor Larry Hogan, on the other hand, has allocated an additional $4.8 million to the summer program.
In order to carry out this initiative, Baltimore County intends to invest $1.2 million of its own money in addition to receiving $1.5 million from the state.
Those who are currently receiving SNAP benefits and have children who are between the ages of 7 and 18 are eligible.
Other states that offer SNAP throughout the summer
More than 30 million children were expected to get assistance for meals during the summer months as a result of a provision included in the American Rescue Act, which was passed into law in 2021.
It is a component of the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer System (PEBTS) (P-EBT). This was initially developed to assist in feeding children from low-income families when they are not in school.
P-EBT cards have been made accessible to students who are eligible for free or reduced-cost lunches while they are enrolled in school. All children younger than six who are currently enrolled in SNAP are also eligible for benefits.

However, your state is required to have an approved plan in place for the school year 2021-2022. The following is a list of some of the states that do:
- American Samoa is a country in the Pacific Ocean.
- NM (New Mexico)
- North Carolina (US state)
- Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory.
- Rhode Island
- West Virginia is a state in the United States.
Your state and the number of days that you attend school in person will determine how much of a P-EBT benefit you are eligible to get.
