DeSantis Unveils Comprehensive Economic Plan
Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida, is positioning himself as the economic protector of the American family, building on his assertion that he protects them culturally.
Monday, the Republican candidate for president in 2024 released a 10-point economic plan that he calls a “Declaration of Economic Independence.” DeSantis, who trails former President Donald Trump in the surveys, is attempting to relaunch his campaign by emphasizing his record for Florida families and businesses.
In his economic proposal, he notes that financial inequality has harmed a large number of Americans, at times speaking like Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a former Democratic presidential candidate on the opposite end of the ideological spectrum.
Desantis’ Economic Plan
Sanders, a progressive who would expand the federal government’s role, outlines an alternative route to prosperity than does DeSantis.
Alter the US-China Relationship
DeSantis, who recently signed a bill aimed at restricting China’s influence in Florida, seeks to reduce the nation’s trade deficits with China, prohibit imports of products made from stolen intellectual property, and put an end to China’s preferential trade status.
In addition, he would prohibit American businesses from sharing vital technologies and prohibit the transfer of properties like farmland to Chinese Communist Party members and their subsidiaries. The law of the state of Florida prohibits China from acquiring farmland and other properties.

Restructure the US Educational System

DeSantis wants to promote school choice and defend parental rights. He would collaborate with the private sector to improve vocational and apprenticeship programs, a common promise among presidents and presidential candidates.
Furthermore, he would seek to facilitate the discharge of student loans via bankruptcy and make universities, not taxpayers, liable for the loans their students incur.
Improve the Labor Market by Revising Immigration Policy
The governor asserts that he would make the labor market more equitable for American workers by securing the border, restricting immigration of the unskilled, and eradicating chain migration and the diversity visa lottery.
He would also make the eradication of the fentanyl market a high priority.
