Wendy’s is one of the Big Three fast-food burger chains in the United States, along with McDonald’s and Burger King. The firm, which is established in Ohio, has over 7,000 outlets throughout the world that sell its famed square burgers and Frosty milkshakes.
Wendy’s fans who qualify for SNAP benefits can spend their SNAP electronic benefits payment (EBT) cards at participating Wendy’s restaurants, albeit their options are limited.
According to a 2021 Frugal Reality article, only a few Wendy’s outlets in a couple of California counties accept SNAP EBT cards for purchases. Wendy’s does not specify which of its locations accept SNAP EBT cards for payment on its website.
SNAP is a federal program that assists low-income families in purchasing food. Food stamps were used to pay for items, but today reloadable EBT debit cards are used instead.
SNAP is administered at the state level, despite the fact that it is part of the US Department of Agriculture.
According to the US Department of Agriculture, qualified SNAP beneficiaries can use their EBT cards to purchase meals at SNAP-certified restaurants under the SNAP Restaurant Meals Program (RMP). Restaurants that participate in the program must provide discounted meals.
In some circumstances, the program allows beneficiaries to purchase food from participating grocery shops’ deli areas. The aim is to make it easier for SNAP participants to receive hot prepared dishes at restaurants, something many of them can’t get at grocery shops.
To participate in the RMP, a restaurant must be located in a state that has one, have state approval, and submit a signed agreement to the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) — as well as be approved to collect SNAP benefits by FNS.

Seven states have chosen to participate in the RMP, according. It is extensively available in Arizona and California, and it is available in select cities or counties in five other states: Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
New York has also passed legislation allowing state social welfare agencies to apply to the federal program.
To use your EBT card at Wendy’s, you must live in California and meet the state’s requirements for the CalFresh RMP.
According to Frugal Reality, Wendy’s does not accept EBT cards for online, in-app delivery, or pick-up orders placed through DoorDash, Uber Eats, Postmates, or Grubhub.
