Florida SNAP Benefits: August Distribution Set to Deliver $180 per Recipient in Single Day

Beneficiaries of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Florida are able to expect their August payments on the first day of the month, with distribution continuing throughout the month.

Every month, from the 1st to the 28th, recipients in the Sunshine State are given food stamps, a form of assistance that helps pay for food and supplies. A formula determines who will receive their benefits every month from August 1 through August 28.

In Florida, SNAP benefits can be used to purchase “breads, cereals, vegetables, meat, fruit, fish, poultry, and dairy products, as well as seeds and plants needed for cultivating food for your household.”

Additionally, the state prohibits the purchase of “pet foods, shampoos and conditioners, paper products, household supplies, cosmetic items, liquor, tobacco, vitamins and minerals, medicines, food to eat in the store, or hot foods” with food stamps.

Beneficiaries of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Florida are able to expect their August payments on the first day of the month, with distribution continuing throughout the month.

Approximately 2.85 million Floridians, or 13% of the state’s population, receive food stamps, with an average benefit of $180 per month.

On the state’s website, you can find additional details on how to use an EBT card to make purchases and who is qualified for SNAP benefits.

Florida’s formula for SNAP benefit distribution employs the ninth and eighth digits of a person’s case number to generate a two-digit number that corresponds to the day a person receives benefits.

If the ninth digit of a recipient is 9 and the eighth digit is 8, then the result of this formula is 98.

Those with case numbers containing this combination will receive benefits on the first of each month.

Those who receive benefits between the 2nd and 27th of the month are divided into three groups, commencing with 04-06 on the 2nd and ending with 93-95 on the 27th. On the 28th, those who are ninth and eighth digits are 96-99 receive their benefits.
