Food Stamps: How to Find Out if Your State Is Going to Offer You More Money in May!
According to the US Department of Agriculture, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act enabled emergency allotments to help SNAP households cover temporary food needs during the epidemic.
EA amounts are computed by subtracting the monthly base benefit from the maximum benefit for the household size.
All SNAP households who receive less than the maximum payment are eligible for monthly emergency allotments from state SNAP agencies. On the other hand, households receiving the maximum SNAP benefit or close to it receive little or no additional support.
As long as a national public health emergency, or PHE, is in existence – and the state has declared an emergency at the state level – states may continue to provide monthly emergency allotments.
The U.S. The COVID-19 federal public health emergency has been extended through April 16 by Secretary Xavier Becerra of the Department of Health and Human Services.
A PHE declaration is valid for 90 days or until it is revoked by the secretary. The current PHE will expire on July 15.
Which states are receiving extra EA SNAP benefits?
All households will get emergency allotments of at least $95. in places where these benefits are provided. Households getting $95 or more will continue to receive the same amount.
EA SNAP funds will be distributed in the form of state EBT cards, which may be used to purchase qualifying foods at designated outlets.
