A prominent grocery store chain with locations throughout the southeastern United States, Publix participates in both the WIC and the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) programs, as well as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
EBT card payments are accepted at all Publix locations, whether at the self-service checkout or in the conventional checkout line. According to Grocery Dive, the supermarket also supports electronic benefits transfer (EBT) for online orders placed via Instacart.
According to TipWho, the following are some of the most commonly purchased (and eligible) goods at Publix that involve EBT cards:
- Baby formula.
- Baby foods.
- Bread and bakery items.
- All types of cereals.
- Dairy products of all kinds, including milk, yogurt, and cheese.
- Energy drinks that have nutritional labels.
- Frozen dinners.
- Protein bars, as long as there is a nutritional label.
When making an in-store purchase, you can use your EBT card in the same way that you would a debit or credit card. If you are making an online purchase with your EBT card, you will have the choice of receiving grocery delivery or picking up your order at a local store.

TipWho recommends that you open your cart or touch the green Checkout button on the Publix website in order to check out online with your EBT card. Once you’ve finished, enter your credit or debit card information, as well as your delivery or pickup address and time.
After that, enter the details for your EBT card and click Edit to specify how much money will be deducted from your EBT card. Select the payment option and click the Place Order button to confirm your selection. Following that, you will be required to enter your EBT card PIN in order to validate the order.
Additionally, there is no additional charge if you choose to pick up your Publix purchase. If you have other products in your purchase that are not eligible for EBT, you will be required to pay with a different method of payment.
