Amounts handed out each month on the Illinois EBT card, also known as the Illinois Link Card, are known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Benefits (SNAP benefits). Every month, the link card is preloaded with the amount of each household’s particular benefit. The link card works just like any other EBT card.
As a result of an emergency declaration issued by the USDA during the pandemic, allotments of food stamp benefits were raised, essentially increasing each recipient’s EBT amount to the maximum authorized each month, based on the size of their family.
You will not receive an increase in your benefit if you were already receiving the full amount before this happened. Illinois’ waiver is not currently scheduled to continue beyond March, which means that your payment may revert to the amount you were receiving before the emergency allotments were granted if that is the case.
Depending on the final numbers of their individually given case numbers, link cards in Illinois will have funds put into their account.
If you had a SNAP case that was converted from a legacy case into the link system, you will be able to keep your legacy availability date of either the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 17th, or 20th of the month.

The benefit availability date for newly accepted cases on the link system is between the first and tenth of the month after approval. According to the Illinois Department of Human Services, this is based on the month that has already been established in IES and is determined by the last digit of the head of household’s (HOH) personal identification number.
