THOUSANDS of families with children are expected to receive food assistance this summer.
According to The Baltimore Sun, each qualifying child in Baltimore County will get $30 in monthly food stamp benefits in June, July, and August.
Summer Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for Children is offered by the state.
In addition, every qualifying child will receive $10 in December, when the winter vacation begins.
Initially, just 10,000 children in Baltimore County were supposed to be eligible.
Governor Larry Hogan, on the other hand, has invested an additional $4.8 million in Maryland’s Summer SNAP programme.
Baltimore County will invest $1.2 million and the state will provide $1.5 million.
SNAP recipients with children aged seven to eighteen are eligible.
They and their parents will not be forced to take any action.
Your income and household size determine whether you are eligible for SNAP.
According to Maryland’s programme, a family of four cannot have an income greater than $36,075 before taxes.

It’s likely that your state has its own summer programme over the summer.
President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Act into law in 2021, which included a provision to provide cash for food benefits to more than 30 million children throughout the summer.
It’s part of the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) programme, which has helped low-income kids eat when they’re not in school.
“All school children who were eligible for free or reduced-price meals during the current school year, as well as school children who are newly declared eligible for meal benefits during the summer months,” the USDA previously wrote.
All SNAP-eligible children under the age of six are also eligible.

However, for the school year 2021-2022, your state must have a P-EBT plan authorised.

- West Virginia, Virginia
