The federal stimulus payments dispersed in 2020 and 2021 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic are a distant memory by 2023, when the pandemic emergency has ended.
Nevertheless, many states issued their own tax reimbursements and other stimulus programs to assist households further.
These States Are Eligible to Receive Stimulus Payments
A few states are still issuing payments, despite the fact that most of the filing deadlines for state-issued stimulus checks have passed and the majority of the funds have been distributed. This is either due to the recently authorized new stimulus packages, or because they have not yet disbursed all of the funds originally allocated.
Based on the Illinois Department of Revenue, the deadline for submitting information to obtain the Illinois Income Tax Rebate and Property Tax Rebate was October 17, 2022. The majority of these payments have been delivered.
However, according to the state Comptroller, payments will continue until they are all issued.
The state of Idaho issued tax rebates and “Special Session Rebates” in March and September of 2022, respectively. Based on the Idaho State Tax Commission, the majority of rebate payments for 2022 have already been sent, nevertheless the agency keeps sending more as taxpayers submit returns and become eligible. Massachusetts began issuing state tax refunds in November 2022; these refunds are essentially complete. Those who qualified were eligible for a refund of 14.0312 percent of their Massachusetts state tax liability for 2021.
In accordance with Mass.gov, if you have not yet submitted your 2021 return, you are still qualified if you file by September 15, 2023. If eligible, you should receive your tax refund approximately one month after filing.
New Mexico offers 2 types of rebates in 2023: $1,000 for joint filers, $500 for single filers or married separately. Deadline to file the 2021 income tax return is May 31, 2024. $500 or $1,000 relief payments for non-qualifiers are also available. $15M allocated, check status with Human Services Dept
